Often heralded as ‘Cultish Goon-bag Rock’, The Thod’s ambitious combination of rock-and-roll, blues, country, psychedelia and a controversial amount of guitars, has attached their name to many sounds and genres, only to arrive at a conglomeration of music best described as ‘Country Punk’.

Residing in Eltham, The Thod have played every bar, club and dive in Melbourne with a stage that will accommodate the eight-member strong lineup. From raucous winery gigs in Torquay, to impromptu performances in Central Australia, The Thod have supported the likes of Wagons, Miami Horror, Peter Combe, and even King Kahn in early 2010, when the band ventured north for a week-long tour of Sydney.

Since the band’s obscure beginning in 2007, it has slowly evolved from a cult-like ethos of “Whoever wants to play, can play” to perhaps the more realistic cult-like ethos of “You can play when everyone tells you to play”. During this progression, while opting to record, mix, and produce everything themselves, the band have released numerous albums and recordings with a conscious effort to make them available for as cheap as possible, if not free. Most notably their 2010 offering Welcome to Thod Country and their most recent follow up Album Précis – a 6-track EP merely illustrating exactly what is to come in 2011 as the band gets ready to release their boldest and most elaborate long play yet, There is still time, brother

The Thod’s radio play history is an extensive list. The band were featured on Triple J’s Home and Hosed in early 2010, followed by regular rotation on a number of Melbourne and Sydney radio stations such as FBi, RRR, SYN FM, and PBS, which saw the band perform a live set for the station’s Easey Street Sessions.

That said, you can by-pass the radio altogether and visit the links below to access the band's Tumblr blog, download a portion of the band's exstensive back catalogue from their Bandcamp, or like the band on Facebook to keep even more up to date with news and the like.
